I know I need to write a new post, but lately my thoughts are everywhere and I have nothing profound to say. I could use a good adventure I guess. I don't even want to wax political right now, even though if you got me started there is a lot I could say. The rise of Hitler comes to mind. Anyway, comments from you all would be nice, maybe they will get me thinking.

I would love to hear what you think about talk shows that shout out the other person and don't allow anyone to be heard.

Glen Beck was on the View the other morning (even though it frustrates her, mom likes to watch the VIEW, to see if they are going to give Elizabeth a hard time). I was thinking how awful it is now that no one really listens to each other. They think if they just shout and drown out the other person that they can extinguish their thoughts. I just felt that I want to hear what people have to say. I think they might have learned something from him. I'm not going to agree all the time with whatever anyone says but I want them to be able to say it. You have had some good posts about that. Amazing how they want to shut people up! Courtesy is so important and it is a lost art.
I think we are getting distracted by all this division that we can't see common sense or people anymore. Life has gotten somewhat ugly. I don't want to be in the "ring" with all these people. I don't even want to be watching them fight. I would love some civility and truth. Its hard to find it. I have a Savior and it isn't the government. It doesn't seem that long ago that we had the belief that the government was in place for your best interests. It doesn't seem to be anymore.

Love you Helen, and whatever you have to share!

I can't stand to watch those shows for that very reason. Bill Mahr (I don't know how to spell his name) is one of the worst ones. He never lets a conservative person get a word in edgewise and he is so arrogant. It seems like they have opposing views on just to be able to try to humiliate them and to prove that they can talk faster and louder. I have also noticed on chat groups online that people tend to just start using bad language and name calling as a way to try to get their point across. I would much rather hear an intelligent thought from someone I disagree with rather than rantings. I am more likely to consider their point of view if they would speak intelligently.

Lindsey, why do you detest Glen Beck? He has a lot of good and well researched things to say. Dad loves him now. Also, he wrote the forward to the new edition of a book written by Cleon Skousen, who I had as a Prof. at BYU many years ago. You need to relisten to him.

no, he is annoying and does idiotic things on his show that completely overshadows what he says. I don't like shouters. Plus tons of people here love him just because he is Mormon, which annoys me to no end.

I knew you didn't like him Renny, but whether anyone likes him or not wasn't really my point. The "View" didn't like him either and wanted him to know! I just would like to see less of shouting and more listening. Its dangerous when we live in a culture that wants to silence opposing views. (both sides) I just wonder why they ever have anyone on their show that they haven't intended to listen to? It seems counterproductive. When Obama and McCain were on Rick Warren's forum it was so helpful because you could judge each person on their own viewpoints without the ranting and raving and cutting off going on. It clarified my opinion by actually hearing what each had to say. If you think about it, the ones each party tries to humiliate or make look stupid actually have something to say. Who did they attempt to discredit by making him look foolish...Ron Paul.. They all rolled their eyes so that they (thus we )could dismiss him. If you actually hear what he had to say it was the most compelling. (I am not saying I was for Ron Paul but I am intrigued by how this system works.) You either kill someone who is threatening..or you make them look stupid. There is a lot of evil behind the scenes going on!
